Audi Q2, technical specifications, photos and description of the model

Unlike its older siblings, the Q3, Q5, and Q7, Audi’s new SUV, the Q2 from Ingolstadt, features a distinctly angular design and, of course, comes with plenty of onboard convenience systems and comfort elements.

Audi presents itself as a premium alternative to small crossovers like the Nissan Juke and Peugeot 2008. It comes at a slightly higher price than its main competitors but offers a stylish exterior, a functional interior, and a wide range of engines and transmissions.

Under the hood, it’s based on the older A3 hatchback, with five doors and the option of two- or four-wheel drive, an automatic transmission. It shares a minimalist interior with its sibling and uses premium materials, although the standard equipment list is a bit sparse.

If the driver doesn’t react to the warning, the brakes jerk briefly to indicate a dangerous situation. There’s also road sign recognition, parking assist, and rear cross-traffic assist.

There are four different trim levels:

• Technik
• Sport
• S line
• Black Edition.

The models include all the essentials: power steering, air conditioning, cruise control, parking sensors, and DAB radio. The top two trims come with climate control and a television, the latter of which is only available with all the latest technology.

All engines, produced by Volkswagen, come with a turbocharger, cylinder deactivation system, and start-stop functionality. They are identical to the engine lineup of the new SEAT Ateca. Each of the three power levels of the gasoline engine has the same amount of horsepower and kilowatts. It’s more fuel-efficient for an SUV.

The base version has front-wheel drive, a 1.0-liter three-cylinder engine with 115 hp. In the next generation, there’s a 1.5-liter engine with 150 hp and the option to choose a transmission. They are labeled as 30 and 35 TFSI. The latter will be the best choice for most buyers with reasonable operating costs and smooth, flexible performance.

As for diesel, there are two options: a 1.6-liter with 115 hp and a 2.0-liter with 150 hp.

At the top is the SQ2 model, distinguished by its individual sporty style, a 300 hp gasoline engine, and serious speed. It can keep up with several sports cars.

Regardless of the model, you’ll feel confident on rough roads.

The front seats and dashboard layout are very comfortable. Everything you interact with is easy to understand, and there’s plenty of storage space to keep the cabin clutter-free.

The Audi Q2 is a compact SUV for the city, although the colored rear pillar, unglazed, significantly reduces all-round visibility, for example, when parking. Overall, it’s a well-balanced combination of performance, design, and innovative features, the latter coming at a fairly high cost.
